Brooklyn Tabernacle Sunday

Today we woke up to a colder morning than we expected and prepared for our first day in New York! We put on our Sunday best and took the subway into the city. Organized into groups, we were able to travel from New Jersey into New York and around the city fairly easily. And soon enough we arrived at the Brooklyn Tabernacle! The church is pastored by Jim Cymbala who authored the book Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire

We arrived an hour before the service started and joined the line of people wrapping around the block to spend time worshipping the Lord at this legendary church.

The meeting was incredible with a 200 person choir led by Carol Cymbala and a moving sermon by Pastor Cymbala on Acts 1:12-14 & 2:1-13. He spoke on the birth of the church and the power of the Holy Spirit. As he said in his message, places don't matter. It doesn't matter where the Lord moves, as long as He does. And that is one of our prayers for this trip, that the Lord would move in our group no matter where we are and no matter what we are doing.

After the service, we split up into groups to eat at famous & Zagat rated Pizza places across Brooklyn. My group headed to Joe's Pizza #2 and ate some awesome food!

Then we headed back to New Jersey for a surprise visit to Carlo's Bakery!

After that we went back to Stevens for evening program!

Our beautiful view of New York City from across the Hudson River!

Happy 19th Birthday to Jewel Crosswell!!

Please be praying for our first day of work tomorrow!
