Work Day One Life of Messiah Center

Today the yellow group embarked upon an adventure navigating the New York subway system. We ended up getting an entire car to ourselves & had some fun subway gymnastics.

After a few fun games and 2 and a half hours, we arrived at the Life of Messiah center in Brooklyn. The Life of Messiah center is on the outskirts of a heavily populated Hasidic Jewish community in Brooklyn and they aim to serve those people. We were able to learn about their ministry, including the overseas establishments in the Netherlands, France and Israel. The largest Jewish population outside of Israel is contained in New York City with over 2 million Jews--700,000 of them in Brooklyn. A lot of their ministry involves demonstrating their love of the Jewish culture to this community in order to gain their trust and respect.

The work that we did at the center was a lot of preparation for what will be done. They just obtained a new building and we prepped the basement walls to be painted in order to have a secure room to have bible studies with Messianic believers.

After we left, we walked through the community in which they serve and observed the Hasidic culture and even ate some bagels too!

The second portion of our day was VBS in Harlem at an underserved housing community. We got to play with the children who live there, sing songs, read a Bible story, and do a skit.

After VBS, Our two groups headed back to New Jersey!

New York from our side of the River.

Thank you all for your prayers over our first day of work! Please continue to pray for our trip and the communities we are serving and please pray specifically for the Life of Messiah ministry that the Lord would provide a Hebrew & Yiddish speaking director for their Brooklyn base.
